AI Squirrel Brain is Real
With AI’s wide range of capabilities it incredibly easy these days to find yourself chasing a new shiny thing from moment to moment.
✏️ A bit of UI design here.
💻 A dash of vibe coding there.
🪅 An hour firing off prompts to get a silly AI generated image just right for your team.
I’m sure we have all experienced some form of AI “squirreling”. I am definitely guilty of this. This is natural with any new toy (at least that’s what I tell myself 🤣). The downside – that scattered focus drains a lot of time and requires backtracking to complete the other task I started. Realizing this was an inefficient way of building stuff, I changed the way I operate.
Number 1 – I start with strategy:
⚠️ What problem am I solving? Align AI to your goals, not the other way around.
💰 What is the value?
💥 Will it make an impact?
📋 Prioritize ruthlessly: Test one tool at a time. Measure impact before scaling.
⏱️Build guardrails: Set time limits for experimentation and regular check-ins to stay on track.
That’s my new workflow, what’s your take? Have you fallen into the AI distraction trap? I would love to hear how others manage chasing shiny objects.
